Fight Club : Movie Review

By the sound of the title, the movie comes to us as a movie based on some kind of underground fighting club. Well folks, you got that right. But there’s a lot more to it. Released in 1999, Fight Club is a drama based on the novel of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk, starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and Helena Bonham Carter. One of the most controversial movies of the 90s, Fight Club started a new era for the movie industry. If you haven’t watched it yet, then, where on God’s earth have you been my dear reader?

Simply put, this movie changed my life. Not just personally, but also as a movie watcher. Now I learned how to view movies differently and obviously- to expect the unexpected. This amazing plot- will just make you want to cry one moment and laugh the next. Welcome to movie heaven!

This movie is literally the first movie ever which at first seemed like something entertaining but the plot twist literally left me upside down. I mean honestly, how many movies are there which you can watch over and over again and somehow learn something new about it every time? And the screenplay, the music, the lighting, and the acting- it was nothing short of perfect. I mean if Tyler Durden isn’t the best character ever played by Brad Pitt then who is?

I probably watched this movie because of Fincher. After watching his amazing work in “Seven”, I believed this would be great too, but Fight Club really blew my mind away. I mean I did expect some good plot and some good acting. But man, I got so much more.

So basically Edward Norton meets Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) on a business trip back home, and that is when his life starts to change. When Tyler sees him living such a boring life, he does certain acts which includes opening a fight club, now the first rule of fight club is to not talk about fight club…so I guess giving you more information about this would not be fair. I can tell you one thing; when you watch this movie it will be one crazy fun ride, trust me!

This movie as the name suggests- might make you think it’s about violence. But to me, it’s not. It’s about life, life choices. It’s about lethargy. It’s about waking up one day and realizing how you just threw all your dreams away to become a mediocre worker. This movie for some people might even turn out to be a wakeup call. This is the best movie of all time with the most shocking plot twist ever. So if you haven’t watched it yet, just quit wasting your time and get to it already!
